At Housing and Assistive Technology, Inc., our mission is to improve the quality of life for seniors and individuals with disabilities through assistive technology home modifications that create accessible, safe, and thoughtfully designed living environments.

Through expert assessments, home modifications, and assistive technology solutions, we serve residential and commercial clients across Florida with integrity, care, and commitment to independence.

The HAT Team

Our team includes licensed Architects, licensed Home Inspectors, licensed General, and Building Contractors as part of our vital team members with residential, governmental, and commercial design and construction solutions for all persons and persons with disabilities.

Our team members work experience includes; onsite residential and commercial inspections, cost estimating, bid specifications, inspection, and photos of all specified work, report write-ups, architectural drawings, and other building and construction services.

Beth Kofsky, MHSA, CEAC, CAPS

Beth Kofsky is the Executive Director of Housing and Assistive Technology, Inc., with over 25 years of experience in residential rehabilitation, home inspections, and accessibility solutions across South Florida. Since founding HAT in 2003, Beth has led projects in Palm Beach, Miami-Dade, and Broward Counties, specializing in cost estimating, home modifications, barrier-free design, and HUD Housing Quality Standards (HQS) inspections for state and federally funded programs.

A Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS), Certified Environmental Access Consultant (CEAC), and Certified Assisted Housing Manager (CAHM), Beth brings both deep expertise and compassionate insight to her work. Her career includes leadership roles at the Stein Gerontological Institute and participation in major initiatives like FAAST (Florida Alliance for Assistive Services and Technology).

Beth is also a seasoned lecturer and consultant, with affiliations including the National Association of Home Builders, RESNA, and the Business Coalition of Americans with Disabilities, where she served as President. Her mission is rooted in ensuring safe, accessible, and dignified housing for seniors and individuals with disabilities, delivered with professionalism and care.

Robert Klein, AR, CGF, LHI

Robert Klein, AR, HI, CGC, brings over five decades of architectural, construction, and inspection experience to Housing and Assistive Technology, Inc. As a licensed Florida Registered Architect (AR009610), Certified Home Inspector (HI1754), and Certified General Contractor (CGC009765), Robert provides expert support across a wide range of residential and commercial rehabilitation projects throughout South Florida.

Since joining HAT in 2010, Robert has conducted thousands of inspections and re-inspections for city and county home repair programs, prepared detailed scope-of-work reports, and ensured full code compliance for accessibility and barrier-free construction. His expertise spans 4-point inspections, ADA compliance, cost estimating, architectural design, and project management.

With a career that includes public and private sector leadership, Robert has worked on major municipal projects, cruise terminals, and multi-unit housing developments. His deep technical knowledge and commitment to quality make him an essential part of HAT’s mission to create safer, more accessible homes for those in need.

Daniel Leon, Licensed Home Inspector

Daniel Leon is a licensed Florida Home Inspector (HI14527) with over a decade of hands-on experience in residential inspections, construction, and cost estimating. Since 2015, he has provided detailed consultation and inspection services with Housing and Assistive Technology, Inc., ensuring compliance with safety standards, building codes, and accessibility guidelines across a wide range of home repair and rehabilitation projects.

As the owner of So Florida Home Inspection, Daniel has performed hundreds of professional inspections, including 4-point insurance verification and windstorm mitigation assessments. He brings a deep knowledge of Florida’s local building regulations, along with a strong background in construction, structural evaluation, and property maintenance. Bilingual in English and Spanish, Daniel is known for his clear communication, attention to detail, and reliable service on every project
